Welcome to Green Olive Stitching. My name is Kev Schofield, an ex soldier who served 24 years in the Royal Engineer.
Having spent a long time in one area of work, I decided that when I left the Army, I would find a new challenge and try something new. I have always been quite creative and wanted to follow a path which allowed me to do this. I did a number of different courses prior to leaving to explore things that might interest me.
On one course, I learned how to use heavy duty sewing machines and when I left in 2010 I started working for a Military tailoring company offering a heavy textile service, where I stayed for nearly 11 years.
Whilst there I was involved in:
Converting issued bergens/rucksacks for the soldiers individual needs. This included standard conversions and bespoke alterations.
Designing and manufacturing bespoke webbing sets.
Repairing items that came through the door for both the MOD and individuals.
Researching and designing new products to be made in another workshop, examples include bayonet targets, helmet scrim covers, folder covers, map cases and security body camera harness. There were many projects.
I have a passion for the outdoors, including camping, bushcraft and general outdoor crafts and skills.
After over a decade I am taking a leap of faith and heading out on my own. I am offering a small manufacturing and repair service. This includes manufacturing items for small businesses that don’t want to outsource abroad in large numbers, repair of items and bespoke manufacture for individuals.
